International Bomber Command Centre,

Tangmere Military Aviation Museum

Tangmere Military Aviation Museum is situated in a corner of the old RAF Tangmere airfield, famed for its illustrious service from 1916 through to the post-war years.  It was opened by a group of aviation enthusiasts in 1982 to promote public awareness of the United Kingdom’s military aviation heritage, educate present and future generations in military aviation and serve as a memorial to airmen and airwomen who gave their lives in the service of this country.

RAF Metheringham Airfield Museum

This small museum, supported by the ‘Friends of Metheringham Airfield’, is dedicated to the men and women who belonged to or supported the 106 Squadron from 1943 until the end of the second world war.

The visitor centre contains an abundance of information, and displays many artefacts that relate to the flyers, aircrew and ground staff who flew and offered support to the squadron during its presence in Metheringham.

Cobbaton Combat Collection

Military museum and tourist attraction, this North Devon collection covers mostly World War Two and the years 1939 - 1945, but with exhibits from the Boer War right up to the First Gulf War. Ranging from military surplus British Army - plus Canadian, American and Russian Forces - tanks, guns, helmets, artillery, grenades, and bombs to Home Front ration books, gas masks, ARP and Home Guard uniforms and blackout lamps. In 1981 Preston Isaac's runaway hobby was opened to the public, and just keeps growing.On site is a large shop stocking collectors’ items, inert ammunition, clothing, hats, badges, survival equipment, books, CDs, toys, souvenirs and much more.There is a working NAAFI canteen wagon with seating area, serving hot and cold drinks and snacks seasonally, and a picnic area.The collection has disabled facilities and wheelchair access.Only guide dogs allowed in the buildings.
